Ahlame Douzal, Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer of Xpdeep, has been selected as a winner of the 2025 WomenTechEU programme — a recognition that highlights both her scientific leadership and the breakthrough impact of our technology.
For Xpdeep, this distinction reinforces what has been at the heart of our mission since day one: building the world’s first self-explainable, actionable, and certifiable deep learning framework — a fundamentally new generation of enterprise AI.
“Explainable and compliant deep learning is no longer optional. To deploy AI where it matters — in healthcare, industry, defense, finance — we must provide systems that are transparent, controllable, and aligned with human judgment. This award recognizes the importance of that mission, and the incredible work our team is doing to make it a reality.” said Ahlame to our team when welcoming the WomenTechEU award.
From early research to a new paradigm in deep learning
Ahlame’s journey toward explainable and trustworthy AI began more than a 7 years ago. Her research on temporal data and medical decision-support systems revealed the limits of black-box deep learning, particularly in sensitive environments where doctors, engineers, regulators, and operators must understand and trust a model’s decisions.
These insights laid the scientific foundations of Xpdeep: a framework where models explain themselves natively, can be audited and certified, and even provide “How-To” actionable recommendations to improve outcomes — across industry, defense, healthcare, finance, and critical infrastructure.
Why this matters now
Europe is accelerating the shift toward trusted, sovereign and compliant AI, with regulation such as the EU AI Act raising the bar for transparency, governance, and safety.
Ahlame’s work directly addresses these challenges, enabling:
4× faster model development through native explainability,
50–70% faster certification preparation,
Massive frugality gains, such as reducing required inputs by −82% in predictive maintenance use cases,
Real-time counterfactual analyses to guide operational decisions.
These advances turn AI from a black box into a strategic asset — one that organizations can trust, govern, and deploy at scale.
A recognition that accelerates our trajectory
WomenTechEU supports deep-tech female founders across Europe and aims to accelerate the growth of startups shaping the next industrial wave.
For Xpdeep, this recognition comes at a pivotal moment: the launch of the Xpdeep Hub, our integrated platform bringing together XpViz (AI teams), XpAct (business teams), and soon XpComply (compliance & risk).
It highlights the unique scientific credibility behind our technology and reinforces our ambition to become Europe’s sovereign framework for trusted, explainable, and actionable AI.
